Chance Wire Tongs have many applications for moving and holding liveconductors clear of the working area, for flat crossarm and/or ridgepin-construction, on horizontal post insulator structures, all types ofsuspension insulator lines, as auxiliary arm braces, and in EHVconstruction for brace pole or ladder positioning guides. A whole familyof clamps, attachments, saddles and lever lifts allow the wire tongs tobe adapted specifically to the mechanical requirements of variousmaintenance jobs. Chance Wire Tongs are made with Epoxiglas poles. Thecastings are made of heat treated aluminum alloy, separated by bronzewear rings. The wide range jaws on the head can be clamped tightly onthe conductor by turning the stick from a position beyond the minimumworking clearances. A large head is available on two sizes of tongswhere extremely large conductors are encountered.
